Ohio Lawyers Give Back: Who We Are

In class action lawsuits, if there is to be a payment of damages to class members, a fund is created.  After class members’ claims are paid, there is often an amount remaining (that is unclaimed). These funds can be distributed to a charitable organization through a process called Cy Pres.

Ohio Lawyers Give Back was conceived and created by Patrick J. Perotti, Senior Partner of Dworken & Bernstein Co., L.P.A. in 2003 to facilitate the distribution of these leftover class action funds to impactful nonprofits and charities that serve the community. Over the last two decades, OLGB has distributed more than $50 million to community organizations.

In addition to the community impact, Ohio Lawyers Give Back utilizes its platform to advocate for the widespread adoption of Cy Pres in class action settlements nationwide where substantial unclaimed funds are anticipated. The aim is to redirect these funds, promoting a more efficient and socially responsible allocation of resources within the legal landscape.
