Christ Child Society of ClevelandOver 100 years ago, Mary Virginia Merrick founded the Christ Child Society by enlisting friends to give assistance to poor infants and children living in the Washington D.C. area. Its first project was to prepare layettes for needy babies. Today, there are 40 active chapters of the Christ Child Society nationwide continuing this labor of love for children. The Cleveland Chapter was organized by Mabel Higgins Mattingly in 1916. We are a non-profit association dedicated to serving at-risk children in the love and spirit of the Christ Child. In addition to providing layettes to infants in need, we have expanded our outreach to include assisting children of all ages through our many programs. Our mission is to "foster a personal love of Christ expressing itself in service for needy children regardless of race, color, or creed." Cy Pres Award DonationProceeds will be used to further our projects that impact the lies of Cleveland's children in need. The needs are growing and the demands on our services are great. We provide clothing, beds, cribs, school uniforms and winter coats to the neediest children. This donation will help us to continue to make a difference in the Cleveland community. Donations such as this make all of your programs possible! As our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick said, "Nothing is ever too much to do for a child."website: http://www.christchildsocietycleveland.org |
