The Andy Nowacki FoundationThe Andy Nowacki Scholarship Story: The family of Andy Nowacki initially established the Andy Nowacki Memorial Scholarship Fund Endowment through The Lakeland Foundation in tribute to Andy, a U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. and Grand River Police Officer who heroically gave his life to his country while protecting a convoy south of Baghdad, Iraq.Andy's legacy of serving others with bravery and compassion will always be remembered through full scholarships to students. The Andy Nowacki Scholarship is be awarded to students who serve the public and who exemplify his compassion for people, his passion for doing the right thing, and who, like him, demonstrate a positive attitude towards achieving worthwhile career and life goals. As Andy's reputation for fairness and compassion continued to grow, it was necessary to create the Andy Nowacki Foundation in order to continue growing and serving the community. The scholarship was initiated in memory of Andy Nowacki at Lakeland Community College and the Andy Nowacki Foundation has now taken steps to make the scholarship available at other learning institutions as we strive to continually expand our service area.
