Eliza Bryant VillageEliza Bryant Village is the oldest operating African American long-term care facility in the nation. Founded in 1896, our mission is simple: “to provide quality service, outreach programs and a dignified, compassionate and secure environment for seniors”.Eliza Bryant Village plays a unique role as a critical access facility. We are located in an empowerment zone that is federally-designated as a Medically Underserved Area (MUA) where more than 35% of the senior population lives in poverty, a percentage that is twice as high as the city wide average. Nearly 100% of Eliza Bryant Village’s residents, tenants and adult day participants live at or below the poverty level. Throughout its 115-year history, Eliza Bryant Village’s commitment to quality care comes with a sense of pride and admiration for our founder, Eliza Simmons Bryant, the daughter of a freed slave, and her vision to serve Cleveland’s frail and vulnerable elderly population as a premier provider of outstanding healthcare, programs and services along the continuum of care. Eliza Bryant Village has been recognized throughout the State of Ohio and the country for providing high quality care to meet the unmet safety needs of frail elderly in the community. Our unique services provide opportunities for seniors to “age in place” and remain independent, receive the care they need, and participate in a variety of social, therapeutic, and recreational activities. Annually, Eliza Bryant Village serves over 1,200 seniors through programs that include: 149 independent senior housing units; a senior outreach center which has an Adult Day Care program that yearly sees over 170 seniors providing them with a nutritious meal, transportation, respite and therapeutic programs; a 175-bed skilled nursing facility; on-site rehabilitation services (physical, occupational and speech); and an on-site health clinic in partnership with University Hospitals. Cy Pres Award DonationEliza Bryant Village is gratefully to Dworken & Bernstein Co., L.P.A. for the generous gift of $50,000 made possible by the Cy Pres Award through Ohio Lawyers Give Back. The gift comes at a critical time for Eliza Bryant Village as continued cuts to Medicaid and Medicare pose an ongoing challenge to meeting the needs of Cleveland’s frail elderly. We thank you for this wonderful gift that will have immediate impact in helping Eliza Bryant Village maintain our tradition of serving the community’s most needful elderly with high quality programs and services. Thank you Alec Berezin for making this gift possible.website: http://www.elizabryant.org/ |
